The school is overseen by the local Council and the Diocese of Leeds and Middlesbrough Diocese.

The admissions system is tailored to the unique nature of the school and its ethos, as detailed in our admissions policies.

It is important you read the information regarding Home to School Transport before making your application.

The school will accept applications from 1st September 2023 until 31st October 2023.

Application process 

To apply for a place at St Francis Xavier School follow this step by step guide:

  • Step 1
    Apply through North Yorkshire Council. The easiest way to do this is on their website at www.northyorks.gov.uk
  • Step 2
    Then you must also apply directly to St Francis Xavier School by completing the school Supplementary Information Form
  • Step 3
    The statements from your Priest or Minister should be accompanied by a copy of the prospective pupil's baptism/christening certificate.
  • Step 4
    Return the completed forms by hand or by post. Please mark them for the attention of
    J. Chapman, Admissions Administrator with the heading "Admission documents".

Information on Appeals (Year 7 places for September 2024)

School places will be allocated on 1st March 2024.  If you are unsuccessful, you have the right to appeal against the admission decision.

If you wish to appeal, please complete and send the Appeal Form to the Appeals Department at North Yorkshire Council at appeals@northyorks.gov.uk  (do not send to SFX school) - no later than Monday 15 April 2024.

The appeal hearings are due to take place in early May and you will be notified by the Appeals Department of a date and time for the hearing.  An independent appeals panel decides whether your appeal is allowed or dismissed.
